The ITBeurope Think Tank - which is currently in the final phase of its formation - is an IT strategy group for European IT policies and the design of a European leadership role in information technology. The group will consist of a varying number of experts from IT, economy, science and research, but also from other disciplines. It convenes twice a year to discuss and communicate assets and deficits of the European IT industry and its related sectors such as IT research and IT education.

The Think Tank will comprise several work groups, each covering a specific "hot topic" from the fields "Economy", "Research" and "Society".

The Think Tank will start with a core-team of Austrian specialists, supported by experts from other European countries, primarily from the new EU member states and, on a long term basis, by members from all over Europe.

The first international convention will be a European IT Strategy Conference planned for late 2005 or early 2006.
